histomorphogenesis of the chukar partridge (alectoris chukar) knee joint
Authors
abstract
introduction: there are differences in the pattern of the knee joint formation of the studied species. according to the small number of studies which focused chronologically on the avian knee histomorphogenetic events, its “morphogenetic pattern” is hard to be proposed. the present work was designed to identify the sequential events of the knee formation in the partridge embryo. regarding to different incubation periods of the partridge and the chick embryos, it is interesting to know if sequential morphogenetic events of the knee joint formation of these two avian models will happen through corresponding days of incubation. methods: in this study partridge (alectorischukar) embryos were used from day 5 to 23 of incubation. 5 &mum; thick sections were obtained sagittally and frontally from the knee region. the slides were stained with hematoxylin-eosin (he), green trichrome masson (tm) and alsian blue–van gieson’s (abv) methods and studied by light microscope. results: in the knee development of partridge we determined three layered interzone formation, joint cavitation and other morphogenetic events of the knee structures of the partridge. conclusion: according to comparison of present results and other similar studies, it seems that birds and mammals follow different timely and sequential pattern of the knee formation.

Histomorphogenesis of the Chukar Partridge (Alectoris Chukar) Knee Joint

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to establish the identity of the parasitic communities of the chukar partridge from Iraq as well as reporting on the prevalence and intensity of various infections from several localities and comprising both sexes. METHODS Twenty-nine live adult chukar partridge (Alectoris chukar) were obtained from several localities across the northern provinces of Iraq. ...
full textEffect of halofuginone (Stenorol) on Chukar partridge (Alectoris chukar).
This study was conducted to assess the effect of the coccidiostat halofuginone (Stenorol) on growth, feed consumption, and survival of Chukar partridge. Halofuginone was fed to three replicates (14 chicks per replicate) of chukar chicks from 2 to 7 d of age at levels of 0, 1.5, 3.0, 6.0 and 12 ppm. Mortality from 2 to 7 d was 0, 0, 0, 11, and 21 birds, respectively, by treatment. Seven-day body...
full textGlobal warming, Bergmann's rule and body mass ± are they related? The chukar partridge (Alectoris chukar) case
Using museum specimens collected in Israel during the second half of the 20th century, no support was found for the hypothesis that body mass and tarsus length of chukar partridges Alectoris chukar has changed as a result of global warming. Body mass showed ̄uctuations during the year, reaching a maximum in late winter and spring and a minimum in summer. Bergmann's rule predicts that in warmblo...
full textInconsistencies among secondary sources of Chukar Partridge (Alectoris chukar) introductions to the United States
The propagule pressure hypothesis asserts that the number of individuals released is the key determinant of whether an introduction will succeed or not. It remains to be shown whether propagule pressure is more important than either species-level or site-level factors in determining the fate of an introduction. Studies claiming to show that propagule pressure is the primary determinant of intro...
